Stroke of the Day Critique

Here we have Yi Liu, a sophomore from Toronto, swimming backstroke in preparation for a run at the final 8 of the 400 IM at championships later this season. He has a serious problem over-reaching on the top of his stroke thus killing his cycle rate. He can not feel the obvious imperfection, thus motivating this taping.

Next we have Jared Robinson (J-rob), a junior from Georgia, swimming one of his five different freestyles. We have had chronic problems with J-rob understanding the principles of streamlining and distance per stroke. Here he is showing pretty good restaint in doing much better in what we are looking for. He has a real problem in beating the wake out of the 25 wall and getting washed out.

Yi: Typical NYAC stroke, I was no different, right arm has a little cross over but nothing major and as coach said that turn over was more like a warm down although I'm sure there was some effort.

Jrob: Got the ugly version of Andrew Hurd going on, needs to be smoother on entery and yes I am repeating myself again here ACCELARATION INTO THE CATCH & OUT OF THE STROKE!!!

P.S. Can't comment on turns and streamlines due to the professional angle of the camera man
