I am looking to the alumni to help me with this question that the team had today. We had a birthday goggle toss attempt to get out of practice today and with the inevitable miss by the birthday boy the question came up asking if anyone had made the toss to release the team from practice. I seem to recall one or maybe two successful tosses but can not remember for sure. I am sure the boys will be interested in your replies.

People made the toss 9 out of 10 times in the practice session seemingly, but when it came down to the crunch (and I know how THIS feels) people always came up a little short. The closest we came to gettig out of practice was the almost purchase of one shiny red jeep!
Ceyhan once made three in a row -- and then did the one that counted, and missed.
Never seen an actual real one ever made.
The goggle toss was the absolute worst device of false hope. But now that I am not subject to it's cruelty, I love it.
I can still hear Coach... "This is the one, I can feel it."
I think that Triepel has made it before, maybe more than once.
We just had someone the other day make his warm-up toss and then totally botch the actual one. the beauty is the emotion that gets boiling all to be toiled with the miss.
Never have I seen a goggle toss lay on the flags. But I do remember Kevin Murphy (the elder)eating a nearly decomposed dragonfly to help his team out of practice. Try that young Kevin...
Figlar made it "made it" in Florida but you weren't looking so he did it again and put up a stink cause he completely missed cause of the wind.
I do remember Devlin making the bet about McGuire hitting another home run and you saying it was a sucker bet...
18 guys with their noses pressed against the RC Cafe windows watching as McGuire's first pitch and swing nets a home run!
i remember the figlar shot now that you mention it and that created the need for the "ok this is the one" rule. i also remember the home run shot and made good on my end of that one.
I'm pretty sure that stories of the dragonfly were the influencing factor in AJ eating a bee to get us out of a set or practice in Florida.
Now that I think about it, did he eat the bee or not?
I really wish Phil would have manned-up for his team last year and eaten the calcified, frozen, encrusted loogie that was hanging on the fence at the pool in Florida.
What a selfish jerk -- not sacrificing himself to get the team out of a 2.5 hour practice...
At least coach seemed genuinel upset when someone missed the toss. "F*%K!! Dammit I thought you had it!!" It always made me feel beter knowing he truly did care. Thanks coach
That snot would have gotten Phil into annlas of all time greatness!!!
Phil already got some greatness, just check his mid-section
Ryan Lacey says the girls were really digging him down in Florida...
"as they are me"
I thought kevin P. made it once. I thought it use to be a flag touch too, and that was made too many times and Darth took that opportunity away.
I believe Carbo made it on a day Coach gave everyone a single toss. First he performed the perfect shirt-tuck, then he laid those goggles out like a pro. Every once and a while a Lane 2 Allstar will justify their existence.
Carbo definitely made it when coach gave everybody one toss. He then went back to second Dev and got Dopey drunk and partook in the use of the Frybaby with Joe Price. So while it was not a one-shot birthday toss, we did get out of practice for making a goggle toss.
My freshman year (94) we had the option of three tosses or jumping from the blocks and touching the flags. The option of jumping for it was revoked once coach knew I could reach the flags from the blocks. The best thing is that on my birthday, he wasn't there, so we tricked John Ferry and he let me jump for it. I hit the flags and we went to breakfast.
Funny Paige!! Way to take advantage of the situation. Hope all is well!!!
